Plotting: Miharu by nature doesn't have a ton of close connections, so it's unlikely there are a lot of ins for close friendship pre-game. However! For just the low price of beating your head against an aloof wall repeatedly, you may yet come to know her or have already encountered her in passing! She's far from a shut-in, but she does wall herself off from others and dedicates a lot of time to working and studying hard since she does not have the benefit of wealth.

Miharu uses the in-game name Scitalis because she cares about protecting her identity!! Even with people she's on an IRL name basis with in game, she will only ever give "Miharu." In-game, she's pretty no nonsense, very direct ("you're standing in the fire and that's why you're dying"), and idles in town a lot. You ever just log into a game and sit there because you're sad? Yeah. She plays a water-element Edge Punisher and is clearly not someone who Games, but she has a breadth of knowledge about the pop culture of the day. She is on a handful of forum/mailing list spaces with the same handle, though, including one for people who have gone through near-death experiences and people who have lost parents. It was probably someone online who nudged her toward Fragment, and your character is welcome to be that online acquaintance if you want!

She's also somehow kind of lured toward the mystical, even if she is a Top-Tier skeptic and doesn't actually believe in any of the stuff she looks into. Probably. She should technically not be able to work at a maid cafe because THEY REALLY DIDN'T EXIST IN 2000, but we have full body sensation VR in this AU, so like, you know. Arrest me. She works part-time at one of those groundbreaking new gimmick cafes in Akihabara. If your character has been or, idk, read publicity about the culture of Akiba, they might certainly see the resemblance in her avatar.

Plotting:
I'm pretty set on the AU and IRL relationships! Furin is a Japanese college student who works part time at a semi-popular cosplay/maid cafe (yes, he dresses up under a fake name and doodles on omelets with ketchup). The cafe is probably talked about online and has its own cheesy website as they do in the 2000's. He doesn't mind talking about his job or vague student things if it's relevant, but isn't a personal guy unless he knows the other person really well. Real life is boring, and so is he!

He's mild, mostly polite, but a little silly and doesn't take gaming seriously! It's English practice. But that's also why he likes dressing up in-game to mess around, like the frog head I have stolen from a another MMORPG. Shhh it doesn't exist yet.

He's also curious and just outgoing enough to be that guy who gently poke people to go through dungeons with people! It'll be fun!!! Please come with him. He's an Earth-based Flick Reaper, also.

I am down to do anything on the event, too! Whatever is dumb, I'm in. You may even get a rare(?) glimpse of what he looks like without the dumb costume.

Plotting: I don'tttt think I have too much in mind yet, since I went pretty much with what I threw out there for the interest check. If you know Persona 5, you already know this guy's story: falsely charged with assault, parents ship him to Tokyo for his probation... except in this life he doesn't get spooky cognitive powers so his life continues to suck (including being stuck in Tokyo because his parents won't accept him back), but the café owner he lives with and his daughter are Akira's one bright spot.

If your chara is in Tokyo and would be at his senior high school (Shujin) as a student (1999 or 2000) or you'd like to have them as a regular at Cafe Leblanc, feel free to have them recognize Akira! In-game, aside from his mask and clothes, he looks exactly the same as he does irl.

I also realized I forgot to choose my classes for Adept Rogue WHOOPS he's that and dark element... I'll figure out something for this later, watch this space.

Plotting: In this AU, Anthy Himemiya is an actual normal 14yr old girl who's been shoved into a boarding school in the UK for the satisfaction of her elder brother's fiancee's family, who are grooming him to be the successor to their vague old money business...and to basically babysit her, because whatever they have her brother do, he's gone for months at a time. So it's just this shy young lady, her tiny pet monkey, and the wholeass world, and she's just naturally kind of weird, so...junior high boarding school kids are merciless, let's put it like that. Hopping into the beta lottery for this game was kind of a last-ditch attempt for her to find something to distract her from people-pleasing and peer-to-peer torment and loneliness, and she actually has zero vidya game experience. She's playing a Dark-Element Shadow Warlock, so that might be...interesting...for finding out what someone like her can do with a semblance of actual power?

I'm not expecting actual classmates for Anthy to run into here, but what I would kinda love, if anyone is so inclined, are people who may have had dealings with her brother - have you hobnobbed with some handsome man named Akio Ohtori at a rich people event? Done business dealings with the Ohtori family which may or may not involve drugs, sex, or various other illicit activities as well as totally vanilla and legal ones? Maybe the guy they sent over to do those things with you whipped out a wallet photo of a little sister at some point? That's her!

Other than that, uh...please think of Anthy's AU like a platter of cookies I'm offering you - if you want her to be part of something you're doing, lmk, I'm open to most things and here to have a good time.

Plotting: A 28yo pro-gamer whose team has disbanded recently due to a scandal involving the team's manager and one of the members. Currently he's unemployed, but money isn't too much of an issue for the time being after winning countless tournaments. Joonghyuk lives with his younger sister in a small flat. Due to the scandal, he's going to avoid offline meetings probably and will change his usernames to avoid nosy questions. He's straightforward to the point of being blunt and keeps people at his arms length—his grumpy demeanor isn't really helping him to make friends either. Still, if someone could handle his curt remarks, he wouldn't be opposed to helping in the game. Also, he's living in Seoul, Korea.

I decided to just NPCify his little sister, but since his avatar is looking exactly like him I'm down for people knowing him from esports streams!!

Also, he's an Earth-element Edge Punisher and his avatar is called Punisher because haha funny (there's another reason but let's not talk about it now).

Plotting: in his youth, cyno was a competitive TCG champion that ended up 'retiring' out of the circuit for noble reasons. after hanging up his card deck holder and pursuing a more traditional career/life path, he quit a life of academia in order to work on content creation and has been relatively successful at it. his current goal is to become even more popular, make more guides, be the best gamer (i'm cringing), and somehow move away from the states for personal reasons.

he still has a kind of weird, obtuse sense of humor and likes puns way more than anyone really should, but. he's a good guy. he'll be a flick reaper in game which will maximize his cool factor but will probably get his ass beat as he learns... which he's fine with. gotta take your lumps at some point.

Plotting: I have left a lot of the specifics of Homura's au open just to be flexible but I am going to say I'm surprised by how many people are in the states lmknhgbfsgd. Anyway, she's a shy, reclusive, almost-hikikomori who's living on her own and has been Not attending school in person since a bullying incident went bad. This happened when she was 14/in middle school; she's been aged up to 18 here, so suffice to say she does not do a lot of socialization! We're pretending the terminally online nature of the world meant distance/remote learning took off a lot sooner than it did in reality. Which does mean I can put her geographically a lot of places, if we want? She's moved around a lot on account of her heart condition and going to different specialists/hospitals for treatment, so what are friends. She's going to be entering uni via the remote learning angle though, nods. Though as a chemistry major. . . hm.

She doesn't look particularly different from her avatar outside of presentation; real world Homura is mousier and more unassuming/plain looking than her canon counterpart, and her avatar is ... Less so! Matching her to her avatar will likely not be difficult because of how different the are, but more for the fact that she's not out and about often and like, her features are pretty common, gosh everyone has a doppelganger somewhere in the world right?

Listen, the concept is basically Moemura larping a cooler version of herself online because that's the only version of herself she's had some success in dealing with people with. Someone once upon a time gushed about how she saved a run and was so cool years ago and she went and made being 'Cool + Good At Game' a personal mission in life, except she is such an uncool person in reality playing herself online is ... Not unlike a performance of sorts, help. Larping your online MMOsona. Swan Lake may have made it onto my app, for reasons.

I like to think she's the kind of cryptid player that's never really joined a guild or static or competitive esports team or anything but is still decently known in the gaming sphere as a good soloist, who just shows up/gets matched into your instances sometimes and helps carry the run while they're there, says maybe 10 words total in case mechanics need explaining, commends the people who need commending then disappears back into the online ether again because she still doesn't know how to socialize properly and talking too much means more opportunity for her natural awkwardness to reveal itself. Feel free to recognize her online persona in a 'hey wait are you THAT player from that other game?' sort of way; if we want anything more than that then please feel free to hit me up and we can discuss! In the beta test she'll be one of your four Steam Gunners, ver. Dark. Please drag her into your parties and befriend her against (?) her will.

Nanase Nana is a 17-year-old high schooler who throws herself into fashion, idols, gossip, and being a bit of a troublemaker in school with poor grades, demerits racked up by messing with the lunchtime radio (in her defence, the Radio Club was just putting the same CD on autoplay every day), and bribing and insulting the teachers. She claims to have entered the lottery out of boredom and wasn't expecting to win a beta key, much less all the tech upgrades needed to run it. Fun!

Plotting: In this AU Saber goes by Elisa Watson in real life and Arturia online. She's in her senior year of high school at a boarding school in Canterbury where she's both Captain of the fencing team and valedictorian. She's also the daughter of a diplomat who passed away when she was fairly young, anybody who gives a shit about UK politics might know that guy.

Anybody in the general area that's semi-well off might know Elisa, I'm willing to collab with potential schoolmates or acquaintances on that front. As for Arturia she looks basically exactly the same online so not a hard connection to make. She's a little busy in her life so the MMO hobby is somewhat recent for her, she probably played tank classes in other MMOs for a few months before getting TheWorld Beta (she's a Thunder-element Bladed Brandier). I'm down for any kind of plotting or for Arturia to hit it off with other people to form parties so! Let's have some fun besties!

snagged from my interest check: haru is the teenage daughter of a wealthy CEO who heads okumura foods, a company most well known for their prolific fast-food burger chain (and questionable labor practices). her father is gifted an early access ticket from his business partners and haru tries the game out of curiosity. she's a sweet and polite girl whose life has been largely controlled by her father, down to her impending arranged marriage. turns out she's more than a little sour on the prospect of being married against her will and finds hacking up monsters in the MMO quite therapeutic for venting her frustrations! she goes by the name 'noir' online and has fashioned herself a masked vigilante type of persona different from the reserved girl she is offline.

i'm very open to AU CR if your character would recognize haru from school or high society circles and see through her charade. i should add she lives in tokyo, japan, but may have taken business trips abroad with her father

haru goes by noir and is a wood-element steam gunner. she's new to MMOs and is the opposite of terminally online (technologically challenged) so it'll be a learning experience. looking for vets and other newbies to throw her at

Plotting: AU!Dehya is a gig worker currently in CA in the times before gig work was a big thing under tech companies: so lots of word of mouth and Craigslist. Estranged from her father since she turned 18, now 25, she hasn't picked a clear direction for her life but things are okay in her book. She plays online games and may be known by other gamers from those before the Beta: she was definitely open about getting picked and giving it a try! Aside from that she still has a makeup hobby and enjoys the cosmetic side of MMOs as much as the hardcore content side. You can't raid if you ain't cute. Often ends up playing mentor to newbies or helping people stuck on content that she's familiar with.

Online she almost always uses FlameMane but for people she knows IRL, she won't tell them off for using her real name Dehya. Lots of details of her AU are pretty flexible to slot connections in, but I'm super up for Pre-CR of the online and offline variety!

Plotting: Mami Tomoe is a cheerful but reclusive 15-year old high schooler who doesn't do a lot of socializing outside of online communities due to not having very many friends she feels close to in school, and due to living alone after her parents died in a car accident. The latter of which being the main motivator as for why as it gave her a lot of hang ups about it even years after the fact. She was previously part of another online community called The Wings of Magius, but uh... the less said about it, the better honestly as she quit that one sometime ago and is trying to move on to other things.

Her avatar doesn't look too dissimilar to her real appearance, save that she seems to be a little more flashier and like something out of a magical girl anime. She even seems to have adopted that as part of her online persona of sorts, as she actually names and calls out her attacks and such, and behaving how she thinks an ideal magical girl would be like. She's been playing other games for a while before this one and tends to take it as a personal mission to act as a senpai to other players, especially newbies as she's willing to teach them things and accompany them on easy dungeons until they are ready to do things on their own. As such, if you feel like you'd recognize her from other games as being that one player that helped out newbies in that other game, let me know!
