A NEW ROOT TOWN.

A new, mysterious Root Town is now available to everyone! The only problem is that no one knows the name of this town, and the bridges that help you navigate the area appear to be a little... dangerous. Put on your toolbelts and help make things a little safer! Or don't. That works too.

PROFESSIONS.

Have you wanted to gather plants, create potions, or enhance your own armor? Well, you're in luck! The professions system has arrived, and so has a crafts festival along with it! Submit your own recipe ideas by September 1st and you'll have a chance at it becoming an official recipe everyone can make!

MORE GLITCHES.

Be careful when you log in, because you might just swap avatars with someone else. Either accept your fate and get used to your new look or coordinate logging out together.

The wind is also too strong in the new Root Town. Maybe a little too strong. Try not to get knocked over, and also try to ignore the whispers of those from your past that float along on the wind.

"HAPPY" ACCIDENTS.

For such a big new feature, professions are bound to have a few minor glitches to work out. From a full denim-clad armor set to a crystal ball, some of the items you can create are a little... odd.

Think you can impress the Head Admin with your culinary skills? Then step up to the challenge! For your hard work, you'll get a chef outfit skin, and potentially a cute little Pomchi to follow you around if you really impress him! Oh, but be sure you don't do a terrible job either. Who knows what could happen?

Plans: Miharu is interested in some of the professions and will be focusing on Chef and Blacksmithing with a little hobby jewelry on the side; she doesn't quite feel like putting as much investment into the gathering skills and may be looking to barter for materials. She cooks quite a bit offline so will be trying some freestyle recipes in-game, but she doesn't actually enjoy a lot of food and will be looking for people to taste test and otherwise make use of her dishes. There might be a forum post? No guarantees that she’ll ace the quest, obviously, but she doesn’t really want a pet, so…in the event she gets the pomchi, there might be shenanigans.

The voices will be REALLY bad for her, and I’m pretty sure there will be at least one 3am BSOD freakout where she forgets that you can log out of video games. The worst thing about these voices is that they’re going to be saying things that she’s thought and felt before, too, so she’s likely to be more prone to lashing out when pressed and generally just being messy.

As far as more overarching goals go: She actually kind of lowkey hates this game because it’s been a very exposing and kind of humiliating experience for her so far. For this reason, I’m not entirely sure what I want to do with bodyswapping but would be totally open to workshopping with someone who doesn’t have one planned yet. That said, my bigger ongoing goal is to try and cement her into needing to keep going, even if it’s just self-preservation, so I’m looking to give her reasons to get involved with people who are thinking about dipping below the surface a little bit.

Seeking: I’ve had a little trouble getting involved, so I’m really interested in broadening my CR pool at this point in time in addition to keeping existing CR going. Like I said above, I'm on the hunt for more things that will keep her committed and potentially raise the stakes for her in the future, so people who are just kind of persistent, busybodies, inquisitive, social, etc work really well with her. In particular, I didn’t get a chance to take advantage of guild recruitment and am interested in her eventually being recruited. I’d like for her to have some more people to run Areas with every so often! idk how much traffic the lfg posts get right now, but I might also swing over there to make a quick ad later. She’s a little better suited for duo and trio runs or being a fourth “fill” member but can be more assertive with assembling a full group if the occasion calls for it!
Offering: Food! Possibly even free food! If you picked up a maid outfit on an Area run, she may very begrudgingly be willing to help you act like a better maid. She is the picture of mental health and definitely not a depressed gay with attachment issues and obsessive thinking patterns. She’s pretty observant and therefore good at picking up on stuff for people who need either an investigation partner or someone to get a good read on them. Since Miharu is fairly baseline aloof and doesn’t pass judgment on a lot of things that don’t directly affect her/her loved ones, she also can serve as a good reasonably cool head with a lowkey snark streak.

Anything else: I'll be out of town at the end of September, so I’m going to try loading up stuff early for the month!

shay! i am here to help! if miharu is into fashion then kara will recruit her to glamour (or try to, at least)! kara's also a member of a couple of other guilds so she can rec some to miharu otherwise. kara's also v social so reaches for your girl...!

i mean they had their armor explode off in front of each other with homu, CLEARLY THEY MUST INTERACT MORE hehehe

also yes kara is starting to rly hate this game too so. if she needs to complain about things then they can do that together.

she does like fashion, so glamour would be fun! with professions being added, that might be a fun way to do some accessorizing within the guild, too! since they did experience armor explosion together i can guarantee that kara will get extra spicy aloof miharu for a hot second because she's trying to play it very cool wrt that happening. but it will definitely also be useful for any future complaining they do about the game being awful since they have a shared terrible experience already, and things just keep getting worse.

IM HAPPY to throw sinclair at her, he's always good for more friendships....but also, please depressed gays with attachment issues unite.

i definitely think they should go out adventuring together! miharu's not super enthused about the maid costumes herself and therefore lukewarm on running an area to get one, but she works at a maid cafe. If he's really struggling, she could definitely teach him a thing or two about hospitality. on the other hand, he seems to have more information on different area keywords than she does, so she might go along with his suggestions just to learn more. just a little subtle info gathering.

and lfmaosaso yes i just want to troll sinclair but i'm determined to get them into a REALLY dumb dungeon like the one that turns them into grunties or maid outfits...but also, sinclair is very good at this dungeon running by now. he has a good memory for the ones he's done...and a few others that others have done, assuming they were told.

we may have to trick them by finding one they haven't heard of icly... alternatively we play keyword randomizer roulette and see if there are any left undiscovered...then hope it's a clown shoes area.

yes!! i was thinking about having miharu swing by for a cup of coffee on her toplevel, which would make a good segue into taste testing or voices or wherever else we want.

they can definitely go on more dungeon dives, too, as long as haru hasn't completely sated her bloodlust after murdering half the game. if you want to try to sit down to just bang out the last bit of our other run just let me know! we can try and find a time we're both around to clown.

i'm glad they will at least have the chance to enjoy coffee and whatever other excitement awaits them before things get...spicy. please use your bloodlust productively, haru, and not for real murder. miharu will definitely be like "hey aren't you thinking of logging out for good now?"

is hani in glamour too since it's kara's guild? they could definitely meet up via that if not through other means - she would certainly immerse herself in the distraction of an area run regardless after taking a beating in qrt from the wind voices.
